Students are invited to study in Shanghai, China’s largest city, as part of their undergraduate education to experience one of the world’s greatest cultural and financial centers. WU in Shanghai draws from long-standing strengths in East Asian Studies, Chinese language instruction and strong faculty ties with Fudan University, all of which support a variety of opportunities to advance a complete understanding of China in a modern context.

Summer Chinese Language Institute

The WU in Shanghai summer language institute is an eight-week immersion program in Chinese language.  Distinguished by intensive small group and individualized instruction, the summer language institute offers three distinct language levels -- 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year – as well as options for heritage learners.

Semester or Yearlong study in Shanghai

The WU in Shanghai semester program offers students the unique opportunity to focus on contemporary issues in China while making significant advances in Chinese language proficiency through classroom study and practicum or internship placements.  Students take classes in English with Fudan University students, while starting or continuing their study of Chinese.
